I tried a bunch of different approaches as far as alignment goes but nothing seems to work for both operating systems. Unlike thenounproject, it works very fast! Pictos is the icon font that really popularized this whole idea. Omnigraffle stencil for easy icon insertion there, if you use that for wireframes.

I found a bunch of really hwlveticons icons, called eclipse. It really is hard to explain, but when a design on the web is able to bridge that gap, serious progress has been made. Great collection of font icon sets! Aside from making fonts, this tool also lets you quickly search and find vector icons. Hieroglyph - Generate an icon font from a directory of vector SVG files Glyphs - the font editor for everyone. Typesites is a weekly look at sites that have great typographic design. You'll have to combine them all together to use as a font.

Really like the icon preview effect, very neat. Similar to The Noun Project, iconmonstr is an archive of helevticons that you can search through and download one-by-one as needed.
Great research of fonts. Pictos is the icon font that really popularized this whole idea. Would be a game changer for widespread, easy to implement, icon fonts availability.
The icons as graphics only are priced differently, but the fonts are broken up into 8 sets. Seem to be removed from web, but live on in some icon font sets. You choose just the icons you want additionl download that minimized set. If anyone finds it useful or is behind the idea let me know!
